Florida Crown Workforce Board, Inc., (FCWB) is a private, non-profit corporation designated as the administrative entity (effective July 1, 1999), planner and grant recipient to administer workforce programs under the Workforce Investment Act of 1996 (WIA), the Florida Welfare Transition Program (WT), Wagner Peyser (WP) and Veterans (VETS) for Workforce Region 7, which is comprised of Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist and Union Counties.  FCWB began its function as the Grant Recipient and Substate Grantee for Region 7, effective January 1, 2000.  It is a non-profit 501(c)(3) Florida corporation, incorporated in October of 1998.  FCWB is a strong example of successful privatization through government cooperation. 

 

Representative board members are a cross-section of the region including local private business owners/leaders, community-based organizations, organized labor, public and private school systems, economic development agencies, social service organizations, and faith-based organizations.  FCWB has hired a staff of professionals to manage the organization's accounting process and system.  These duties are assigned as part of the Board Staff duties.  FCWB has forged working partnerships with local communities, elected officials, business, labor, and education leaders to improve workforce education, employment, and training opportunities in North Central Florida. 

 

FCWB is a grant recipient of the Navigator Disability Program Grant and The Governor’s Able Trust High School High Tech Grant, both of which provide skilled staff to assist both adults and youth with disabilities to be fully integrated into the workforce.   FCWB is also the recipient of The Governor’s Able Trust Assisting Florida residents that are United States Military Veterans with Disabilities to Gain Competitive Employment Grant as well as other grants from Federal, State and private entities.
