In November 2010, the Florida Crown Workforce Board was the recipient of a VEX Robotics kit from RAMP, “Ready to Achieve Mentoring Program,” part of Institute for Educational Leadership in Washington, DC.

Florida Crown chose the Fort White High School RAMP students to participate in this great opportunity. The student have been very busy for the last eight weeks building the VEX robot kit from scratch. This has been a very educational event for everyone involved.

The students will be participating in their first competition at the Lowndes High School in Valdosta, Georgia on January 22, 2011. We wish the team good luck and hope they qualify for World Competition in Orlando in April 2011.

Team members are Josh May, Emily Rojas, Brian Fontain, John Haire, Jerel Phillips, Kevin Poteat and Kenneth Kramer. The team is selling Hex-Bugs at the Florida Crown office in Lake City and Tastefully Done Café in Fort White as a fundraiser project. The cost of the Hex-Bug are $10.00 each.

Again, we wish the team well and hope they get to compete in Orlando in April.

Keep watching our website for progress updates as the competitions continue!!!
