Who is Served:

Any individual legally entitled to work in the United States is eligible for service. Job seekers who are veterans receive priority referral to jobs and training as well as special employment services and assistance. In addition, the system provides specialized attention and service to individuals with disabilities, migrant and seasonal farm workers, ex-offenders, youth, minorities and older workers. All employers are eligible for service as long as they adhere to applicable federal and state employment provisions.


Program Description:

The purpose of Wagner-Peyser is to provide access to all job seekers to job finding and placement services and job listing and matching for employers. Close coordination is required between Unemployment Insurance (UI) services and reemployment services to help UI recipients return to work.

Services are provided through Florida Crown Workforce Board One Stop Center that offer group and individual staff-assisted activities, as well as self-service opportunities via computer resources. In addition, EmployFlorida.com is an Internet-based resume matching service linked to employer-entered job postings.

Assistance to job seekers is provided through job search activities, labor market information, employability self-assessments, job interview techniques, and resume preparation assistance. When appropriate, referrals are made to employment openings listed through the program.

Employers receive a range of services, including screening, job order taking, applicant referrals, use of interviewing facilities, job fairs, and value-added information regarding the labor market and prevailing wage rates.

Internet Resumes and Job Searching

The Resource Room offers listings of employment related Internet sites and Resource Specialists are able to assist you with Internet searches for jobs virtually anywhere. You can also post your resume online in the Employ Florida Marketplace.


Resume Writing Assistance

In the Resource Center of the One-Stops there are Career Managers that can assist job seekers in developing their resumes.


Keyboard/Typing Test

The One-Stops Resource Centers offer testing in these areas. Tutorial software is available. In order to utilize these programs, please see a Resource Specialist.


Career Counseling and Planning

Resource Specialists in each One-Stop are available to assist with career planning. A number of tools and assessment inventories are utilized. Resource Specialists can work with you on a continuing basis to advance your career.


Job Interview Preparation

Resource Specialists in each of the One-Stops are available to assist you in developing strategic skills for job interviews. It is recommended that you have a current resume prior to contacting a Specialist.


Adult Education

Resource Specialists can direct you to sites for GED preparation and testing, and they have information for those desiring continuing or adult education.


Labor Market Information

For both job seekers and employers, labor market information is vital. Fortunately, a vast amount of information with the makeup of the labor market is available. This type of information can assist a job seeker trying to determine the best type of position, education, or training to obtain in order to succeed in a particular labor market.
