Executive Director

Florida Crown Workforce Board, Inc. (FCWB), Lake City, Florida is accepting applications for an Executive Director serving Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist and Union Counties. Must be or become a resident of one of these counties within 90 days of hire. Position is responsible for leadership, management, oversight and execution of all responsibilities related to federal and state workforce activities. Min. Exp: Masters degree in Business, Public Administration or related discipline. 5 years of experience required. Extra consideration given for workforce experience and to veterans. Salary: Minimum $55,000; negotiable based upon experience. Full benefit package available after 90-day probation. Successful applicant must pass background check and drug screening.

We provide incoming businesses with a packet of detailed information describing the services we provide and what resources are available to them in this region. Florida Crown provides in-kind services to many incoming businesses - which may include rent free offices, phone, fax and internet services and even employee screening.

Florida Crown has three full-service One-Stop centers providing services for its region (Columbia, Dixie and Gilchrist Counties). Florida Crown's One-Stops provide the following services:

Welfare Transition (WT)

The goal of Florida’s Welfare Transition program is to emphasize work, self-sufficiency, and personal responsibility; as well as enable welfare recipients to move from welfare to work.

FSET/SNAP

(USDOL SNAP Program page)

Florida’s SNAP is designed to provide SNAP recipients who are work registrants with the training, education, support services, and skills needed to become self-sufficient through employment.

Workforce Investment Act (WIA)

The goals of the WIA Program are to improve the quality of the workforce, enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the nation and to reduce welfare dependency.

Navigator

(Florida's Disability Program Navigator page)

The primary objective of the Disability Program Navigator (DPN) initiative is to increase the ability of the One-Stop Career Center system to enhance the employability of job seekers with disabilities and to increase the number of career advancement opportunities available to them.

Job Club and GED

Job Club is a 4-week program for individuals who are preparing to enter or re-enter the workforce.

GED classes are designed to prepare students to pass the GED test in the areas of Math, Reading, Language Arts and Writing, Social Studies and Science.

Wagner-Peyser Services

These services are offered to employers, in addition to referral of job seekers to available job openings, include assistance in development of job order requirements, matching job seeker experience with job requirements, skills and other attributes, assisting employers with special recruitment needs, arranging for Job Fairs, assisting employers analyze hard-to-fill job orders, assisting with job restructuring and helping employers deal with layoffs.

Veteran's Education and Training Service (VETS)

The mission of the Veterans' Program is to promote and maximize the employment of Florida's veterans, especially veterans with barriers to employment, utilizing the complete menu of One-Stop Career Center resources.

Incarcerated Veteran's Transitioning Program

Incarcerated Veteran's Transitioning Program provides transitional assistance, including employability skills training, counseling, case management, job search and placement assistance to incarcerated veterans who are transitioning out of the correctional center system.

Hiring Florida’s Heroes

Florida National Guardsmen and veterans of all branches of military service make great sacrifices to protect our freedom and keep us safe during natural and other disasters. To better support their employment needs as they return home, Governor Rick Scott on Jan. 24, 2012 led business, military, veteran and workforce leaders in launching the Hiring Florida’s Heroes campaign to connect businesses in need of high-quality talent with these dedicated, well-trained men and women.

Congress passed, and the President has signed into law, the VOW to Hire Heroes Act of 2011. Included in this new law is the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP). VRAP offers up to 12 months of training assistance to unemployed Veterans. The Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) and the Department of Labor (DOL) are working together to roll out this new program on July 1, 2012.

The VRAP offers 12 months of training assistance to Veterans who:

Are at least 35 but no more than 60 years old
Are unemployed
Received an other than dishonorable discharge
Are not be eligible for any other VA education benefit program (e.g.: the Post-9/11 GI Bill, Montgomery GI Bill, Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Assistance)
Are not in receipt of VA compensation due to unemployability
Are not enrolled in a federal or state job training program

Dear Florida Crown,

I just wanted to write a quick letter letting y'all know how much I appreciate what y'all have done for me over the past few years. I went from worrying how I was going to feed my children to making excellent money as an LPN. If it wasn't for the help that Ms. Doris Hall was able to giveme and the encouragement, compassion and patience from her, I would nopt have made it through. Now, I am glad I can come up here for other assistance that I may need from the resource room.
